My daughter asked me to paint a picture of her best friend with her aging dog, since it was anticipated that it might not live much longer.
Looking more like cotton candy than snowballs, these hydrangeas were painted for my sister since she loves hydrangeas so much. They remind both of us of Grandma’s beautiful hydrangeas that she had by the side of her house.
This painting was a gift to Bebe Kok, director of the Alabama Civic Chorale at the 2019 performance of Handel’s Messiah.
My aim was to capture the expression of pure love for her Savior and the joy that the music and message Handel’s Messiah brings to her and through her.
This painting represents more than can be described in words. Our dolls, Booful and Bitty, have brought joy, comfort, and delight to my sister and me for over forty years. They are our comfort and they carry the depths of our close sibling relationship in their tiny, embraced hands.
This is a painting of a close family friend’s son as he gazes upon Yellowstone Lake.
This portrait is of my friend, Carl, as Drosselmeyer in Birmingham Ballet’s 2019 production of The Nutcracker. Drosselmeyer is the creator of the nutcracker, given to Clara at a delightful Christmas party. His striking presence touches the lives of everyone at the party and sends Clara into a magical dreamworld. This painting is in the personal collection of Cindy Free, director of the Birmingham Ballet.
This painting was a special gift to my brother-in-law, Robert Johnston, in honor of his second book of poems, “The Tribe: Leaves in the Wind”, published in 2017. Robert brings that light we all need as we walk through dark forests in life.
This was painted during a peaceful, relaxing vacation to the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama in the summer of 2019.
